Muslims support Anna's campaign in defiance of Bukhari diktat

Since the Islamic seminary, Darul Uloom, Deoband and the Imarat Shariah, Bihar, have come out in support of Anna Hazare's movement, Muslims who have thus far stayed away are now likely to participate. The socio-political organisation of backward class Muslims, Pasmanda Muslim Mahaz, has also confirmed its unequivocal support of Anna's cause. This is in direct defiance of the chief of the Jama Masjid in Delhi, Imam Syed Bukhari
Lok Sabha ready to discuss Anna's Jan Lokpal Bill

The Lok Sabha is now ready to discuss Anna's Bill and its salient features after which records of the debate will be sent to the parliamentary standing committee. A slew of hectic parlays ended in the decision to discuss the bill, even as some uncertainties still exist. The move is significant however, as Hazare held the government to ransom saying he would consider ending his fast only after a decision to hold the discussion is confirmed.
Lokpal Bill negotiations - back to square one on day 9

Hopes were dashed that negotiations between the government and Hazare's team would resolve the Lokpal Bill after it hit a dead end again when Anna proposed a deadline the committee could not accept. Anna Hazare who has survived on water alone for 200 hours, said the development exposes the government's true face, but told his supporters if the government tries to forcibly remove him from Ramlila Maidan they should maintain peace rather than incite violence, which is the government's gameplan. Both sides however said talks would resume in a day or two.
Teenage murder suspect gang raped while in custody in Bihar

In Saran, an 18 year old girl who was detained on suspicion of the murder of her 15 year old lover, was raped by some unnamed policemen. A doctor who conducted medical tests confirmed the rape. The police station chief has been suspended for dereliction of duty, by not having female constables present while a woman is in remand.
Anna supporter sets himself on fire

Dinesh Kumar 32, from Patna, Bihar, immolated himself to show support for Anna Hazare's Lokpal Bill. The man apparently shouted slogans in support of the Jan Lokpal Bill. as he poured kerosene over himself and set himself on fire. Passers-by rushed to save him as police arrived and took him to hospital but he was admitted with 80 percent burns. His condition is said to be critical. Anna's team has posted a message on Facebook appealing to people not to take extreme steps, reassuring them they will overcome with determination and non-violence.
