Report dated 03/03/2013 @ 8:59 PM

M Sakuntala, 70, was suddenly left alone when her husband died in 2010. Their children convinced her to sell their family property and she moved to a rented house. The son and daughter apparently did not want to be with her and largely left her alone. One day Sakuntala walked into a crematorium where she lay on a pyre and set herself ablaze using a bottle of kerosene to light the funeral pyre. The caretaker found her charred body on the pedestal and informed police who initially suspected someone may have tried to dispose of a body illegally. Later inquiries found that the deceased was Sakuntala. Police sent her body to a government hospital and handed it over to her son after a postmortem.
