Father kills teen son over dinner insult
Report dated 18/12/2012 @ 3:16 PM

Father kills teen son over dinner insult Subhash Agggarwal, 58, shot his son Subham, 18, with a double barrel shotgun as he slept, and later tried to make it appear as suicide.

After killing him Subhash raised an alarm that his son had committed suicide with a screwdriver, and according to a neighbour he never tried to take Subham to hospital. He was also angered when it was suggested they call the police.

When the police eventually were called in they found a firearm injury on the boy's upper abdomen and a large amount of blood. A double barrel gun was found under the quilt and his daughter Poonam was questioned and a murder case was filed against Subhash.

Poonam revealed that her father was an alcoholic and did not work. He often quarreled with his family over petty issues and on the night in question he was angry when his son saw him eating late and fussed over it.

Neighbours and friends stated that Subhash abused people, did not help his talented son with school work and continued to pressure his family with demands for money, even after they took up work to keep the family afloat. Subhash lost his business and failed at other attempts to support his family, so took to drinking and became very difficult. He had never worked after 1992.

Subhash went to Delhi from Panipat in 1987 and set up a sweet shop that was later sealed. He then tried his hand at real estate but failed and suffered losses.

Gate-crashing 'guests' steal jewels from wedding venues
Report dated 15/12/2012 @ 8:00 PM

Gate-crashing 'guests' steal jewels from wedding venues Police in Allahabad have received a number of reports of jewellery worth lakhs of rupees being stolen by gate-crashing 'guests' whose smart appearance makes one family believe they are invited by the other, not realising they are either free-meal seekers with robbery on their minds or members of an organised gang of wedding thieves.

The gangs of thieving 'guests appear refined and educated and blend into the crowd easily.

Victims say they are surprised that young men are being trained by gangs who strike during wedding ceremonies in a heist that seems to be the pattern of the day at marriages.

Police say efforts are being made to bust the network, but the thieves deftly run from the venue after they have done their deed, with the intention of dodging police.
