Man shoots at waiter for refusing to eat leftovers

Monu, a waiter at a Delhi restaurant was shot at by a Rajesh after he refused to eat the food he and his friends had left over after they finished eating. When Monu refused Rajesh took out a pistol and fired at the victim who escaped. Rajesh was arrested by the police but his two associates escaped. A case has now been registered and police are on the lookout for the runaway associates.

Neil Thomson a Vietnamese guest, and his Delhi based friend Paramjeet, fell foul of police officials in Meerut near Delhi, after they tracked down a car that had hit a woman's vehicle on a national highway then sped away. Unfortunately the two did not know that the occupants of the offending car were in fact police officials. Thomson and Paramjeet continued on their journey to Rishikesh, but were stopped and taken to the police station where they were made to strike the 'murga' position, a punishment by which the penitent is made to squat and loop his arms behind his neck to hold his ears. This humiliating manouevre was inflicted in public view. The authorities in Meerut say they have begun to conduct an inquiry into the incident and expect a report.
Gujarat sets up polling booth for just one voter !

Gujarat's chief electoral officer confirmed that a five-member team of the election commission is to go to a hamlet in the Gir forest near Junagadh on December 12, ahead of the December 13 elections, to erect a makeshift polling booth. Originally the sleepy hamlet was home to 90 people but over the years all except a 59-year-old priest Mahant Bharatdas have left to find homes in surrounding villages. Das has regularly exercised his franchise, having done so in 2004 and in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls as well as the last assembly elections in 207. He is eager to vote again this time.

Astrologers and numerologists are striking it rich with a 20% jump in business over the past few weeks, owing to an increasing number of people asking for predictions on what is in store for them on December 21 the date predicted to bring about the end of the world according to an ancient Mayan calendar. According to the prophecy the world may come to a sudden end on December 21 2012, at the completion of a 5125-year cycle known as the 'long count' in the Mayan calendar. One numerologist in Hyderabad said the frequency of customers picked up immediately after the news of the earthquake in Japan and the recent Tsunami threat. Teenage girls tied to lamp post and beaten up by public

Three teenage girls who went to a clothes shop in Salem to enquire about some dresses they gave for sewing, were told by the owner that he did not recall seeing them before. They insisted they gave the clothes to his wife so he went to check on it with her. When he returned he found Rs.1000 missing from the cash box. Since he considered the amount was small he did not file a complaint with police. Some days later he saw the girls walking down the street and alerted the public who caught the girls, tied them to a lamp post and beat them badly. The girls were rescued by police and taken to a hospital.
