The Delhi High Court has ordered the Delhi Development Authority to allot a flat right away to Subodh Kumar, who applied for it in 1979 and has been waiting for it ever since. The Justice said the Development Authority owed a duty to Kumar and must allot the flat within 8 weeks in accordance with the law.
NRI Pranksters act as Wedding Busters in Kerala village

In Maipamangalam village near Thrissur, people with marriage proposals are misled or told horror stories about prospective brides or grooms and sent back by an anonymous group. This is allegedly done by pranksters, just for kicks. The problem has become endemic so residents have now put up boards warning people against the so-called anonymous 'wedding busters'. Now an association of young people called the Vampire Club warn against the gang of wedding busters, and are warning the mischief makers as well. The Vampire Club members say at least 20 families have suffered the results of the wedding busters, whom they believe are middle-aged NRI returnees from the Gulf, who have taken early retirement and have nothing much to do!
Bengal prisoners perform at Durga Puja festival in Mumbai

This Durga Puja, Bengalis living in Mumbai and Thane are to be treated to performances by prisoners performing in Rabindranath Tagore's famous dance-drama Valmiki Pratibha. Kolkata based dancer Alokananda Roy has, for the first time, brought her dance troupe of 48 prisoners, including 8 women, to perform during Durga Puja in Mumbai. Roy says her prisoner performers are all reformed and not a danger to society. Given legal requirements however, they will be accompanied by 10 police personnel from West Bengal and more from Mumbai as a precautionary measure. Mumbai's four performances will complete Roy's three year long journey with the prisoners, totalling 40 performances in all.
Woman walks naked to temple on advise of witch doctor

A 25 year old woman from Tiruvannamalai, was seen walking naked in a Chennai suburb. Passers-by saw her and called the police who rushed with clothes to the rescue of the naked woman. During questioning police found that the woman was in love with a man in her home town who refused to marry her because his family had arranged for him to marry another. The desperate woman then approached a witchcraft practitioner who told her to make a naked pilgrimage to a temple, which she did, to fulfill her vow, so she could be reunited with her lover. The parents of the woman were called by police and they took the distraught woman back home.
Sixty year old lady embarasses police by stripping in custody

Murder accused Laxmi Dangle 61, gave the police the jitters when she would repeatedly strip in jail in full sight of the male officers and abuse them, even trying to swallow pills and commit suicide on one occasion. Flabbergasted and fed up with the lady's outrageous behavior the police requested that the court take her off their hands and place her under judicial custody. Dangle is accused of murdering her neighbour Latika Kamble 60, to whom she owed Rs.1.2 lakhs. Dangle bludgeoned Kamble to death with a tile when she was asleep and tried to flee with valuables but could not find the keys to the cupboard where they were kept! The police's request has been granted and Dangle has been placed under judicial custody.
